The AIA is made up of two committees, the Executive Committee and the Audit Committee, both of which are made up of members of the Board of Directors of the AIA.

The committees are able to effectively deal with complex and specialized issues, utilizing the members time more efficiently, where they then make recommendations for action to the full board, who collectively are responsible for all decision making.
